ABOUT THE GALLERY

The Marianist Galleries specializes in exhibiting contemporary works of art. It stands among remnant evergreens of what was once woods and farmland in Kirkwood, Missouri. The orginal farmhouse is now a modern twentieth century center of contemporary art by Brother Mel Meyer, founder and current director of the Galleries.

Monumental stone and steel sculptures rise dramatically from the manicured lawn, standing as silent guardians surrounding the two-story rough-cut cedar structure. Together, the gallery and sculpture garden are places to enjoy art as well as aquire it. "Bringing beauty to space gives life to our environment and uplifts our spirits."

The two-story gallery is a showcase of two and three dimensional art in many media. The sky-lit main floor of the gallery and its adjacent rooms prominently exhibit a wide variety of brilliant paintings, elegant handmade paper, furniture, and distinctive wall and standing sculptues. The Marianist Galleries is one the largest private collections of religious and comtemporary art in the United States.
